Kate Fodell, Personal Trainer
Background:
Kate graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University. She has worked at athletic clubs as a personal trainer, as well as interned in the Strength and Conditioning department at Western Michigan University. Kate’s passion is working with women and young athletes. She is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA and has been previously certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist, Zumba Instructor, Spinning Instructor and Turbokick Instructor.
Kate is married with three lively children ages 2, 4 and 6. She prides herself on having an active family, who really likes to have fun. Her husband is a USA swim coach and her kids can most often be found playing outside. Her two oldest are involved in swimming, tennis and gymnastics. Her youngest just likes to play with dirt and sticks for hours. She and her husband share a passion for weight lifting, specifically to Kate: Power Lifting.
Kate’s mission is to educate women of all ages about the importance of strength training. “I would like to end the age-old myth that women will ‘get too bulky’ when lifting weights. I want all women to experience the increased mental strength and confidence that they will develop when building physical strength. Additionally, I believe educating young women will help reduce eating disorders and distorted body images. Overall, strength training will give ease of living at any age, and reduce many health issues that tend to appear as we get older.”
